Hop on Pops!

It’s on everybody’s mind, and I’ll be the millionth person to say it, but my goodness- is it ever HOT out there!

Summertime in the city has always had a special spot in my heart. It’s the time of water balloon fights, splash pads and skipping ropes. I’ve been heartily mourning the loss of my Pogo Ball, as I’m pretty convinced that if I had just kept at it, this would’ve been the year. For surely it is the year that I turn 30 that I would be coordinated enough to excel at bouncing about on a platform surrounding a rubber ball.

In the interest of saving me from scraped knees and heartache, I instead turn to one of my fave recipes. Meant to be had as a shake, but if you pour this baby into the Little Bites Popsicle Molds, you’ve got yourself a tasty, icy treat!

Strawberry-Banana Yogurt Shake

Ingredients

1/2 ripe banana
1 dozen strawberries
1 tbsp maple syrup
1/2 cup plain yogurt

Directions

Wash the strawberries, stem them and cut in half. Peel the banana and cut it into slices. Place the fruit in the blending bowl and blend slightly (one to two pulses) Add the yogurt and maple syrup. For an older child you may also want to add some crushed ice. Pour into a cup and serve.

It’s a simple recipe, but bananas and strawberries make a great pair! All pureed food tends to freeze nicely, so give it a try with peaches, berries, or apples!
